Jason Streets broke the state record for career goals in leading Lakeland Christian to a 7-0 victory over Seminole Presbyterian in the District 4 championship game.
Streets entered the game tied at 174 goals with former Mulberry star Chris Crawshaw. He controlled a short pass from teammate Will Campbell and booted the ball into the net for the first goal of the game.
"I didn't think I had a realistic shot at the record when the season began, but things just worked out for me," Streets said. "It's a pretty incredible feeling for me."
Lakeland Christian continued to dominate the tournament, outshooting the Lancers 23-6 and controlling the ball and the momentum throughout the game. Six Vikings scored in the game.
"We like to concentrate on spreading the ball around and taking good shots," Streets said. " There will always be opportunities to score when we keep patient and find the open man."
Lakeland Christian increased its lead to 2-0 late in the first half when senior midfielder Ben Strawbridge leaped into the air and headed a corner kick from forward Nathan Purcell in to the corner of the goal.
