Kond Allen scored on a 2-yard run with 33 seconds left Saturday night as Northeast Louisiana rallied for a 45-41 victory over Central Florida.
It was a wild ride for two teams struggling through tough schedules. Northeast (4-6) came into the game with losses to Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Kentucky. Central Florida, assured of a losing season at 4-6, had lost to Mississippi, South Carolina, Nebraska, Auburn and Mississippi State.
Central Florida went ahead 41-38 on Daunte Culpepper's 61-yard pass to Charles Lee with 2:45 left in the game.
Northeast then drove 85 yards in 13 plays, with Allen scoring the game-winning touchdown. Steve Foley sealed the outcome with a 5-yard sack of Culpepper with 19 seconds in the game.
Northeast recorded consecutive victories over I-A opponents for the first time since upgrading to I-A in 1994, and the two wins over I-A foes in the same season also is a first since being reclassified.
