Hernando County commissioners on Tuesday accepted the short list of five county administrator applicants that a residents' task force garnered from the 191 people who applied. Commissioners also accepted the task force's list of five alternates.
Applicants selected by the task force are former Citrus County Administrator Tony Shoemaker of Inverness; Bonnie Dyga, assistant administrator in Okeechobee County; David Sallee, a management consultant and former Cape Coral city manager; Arthur Pizzano, city manager in West Des Moines, Iowa; and Mark Palesh of Lehi, Utah, owner of the Utah-based Magellan Group and a former city manager.

BROOKSVILLE _ Hernando County commissioners on Tuesday unanimously appointed Department of Public Works Director Alan Holbach as interim county administrator and Ishmael Victor Gonzalez as interim human resources director by a 4-1 vote.
Holbach has worked for the county since 1986 and was appointed interim public works director in May 1992 and public works director in July 1992.
Gonzalez, a retired human resources executive, served on the resident task force that narrowed 191 applicants for county administrator to five.
