HIV-positive man, 29, charged with committing act of prostitution

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with committing an act of prostitution while HIV positive, Tampa police said.

Eugene Wilhelm, 29, knew he was HIV positive when he performed a sex act without a condom on Sept. 2, according to the criminal report affidavit. The deadly virus could have been transmitted by the act, the report said. Wilhelm lives at 1207 E 139th Ave., Apt. D. He was arrested Oct. 27 and was held in the Hillsborough County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The report said Wilhelm told officers he has been infected since 1991. Jail records show that in 1995 Wilhelm was charged with criminal mischief. The disposition of that charge was not available late Tuesday.

Police say boy, 14, pulled knife

TAMPA _ A 14-year-old boy who attends Greco Junior High School was arrested early Tuesday after he threatened a student with a knife, Hillsborough sheriff's officials said.

The boy threatened another male student on a school bus at Puritan Road and Garrison Street on the way to school Tuesday because the student had intervened on Monday when the 14-year-old was picking on another student, sheriff's officials said. Other students on the bus confiscated the knife.

The 14-year-old, whose name is being withheld because he is a juvenile, was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center about 9 a.m.
