A motorcyclist was in serious condition at Bayfront Medical Center after skidding Thursday morning into a construction vehicle on East Lake Road.

Heath Williamson, 30, of 19831 Bower Road in Dade City was traveling north along a two-lane section of East Lake Road when he tried to pass traffic on the left about 9:50 a.m., said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Paul Curtas.

Williamson saw a front-end loader turning left into a construction site, hit his brakes, fell from the Suzuki and skidded into the loader. Williamson's passenger, Julie Hirsch, 29, of 1408 Brixten Lane in Holiday, was treated at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs and released.

Both were wearing helmets. Front-end loader driver Robert Lourly of 3270 Batten Road in Brooksville was not injured.
