HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

FOX, JOHN R., 87, of Tampa, died Tuesday (Nov. 4, 1997) at home, under the care of Hospice of Hillsborough. He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., and came here in 1959. He was a retired shop foreman for Mack Truck Co., and was a Seventh-day Adventist. Survivors include his wife, Edith; two sons, Kenneth, Pensacola and Herbert, Tampa; two daughters, Elizabeth Smith, Oldsmar, and Claudette Colliver, Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Bernice Berry, Bradenton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. HITE, EARL E., 80, of Tampa, died Saturday (Nov. 1, 1997) in Tampa. He was born in Pleasantville, Ohio, and came here in 1980. He was the director of research for Ceramic Engineering. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Toronto, Ohio, where he served as a deacon and an elder. He attended a Presbyterian church in Tampa. He was a master mason of the Pleasant Valley Lodge and was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville. Survivors include his wife, Adah R.; two daughters, Janet Hite and Carol Hoak, both of Tampa; a brother, Howard, Mount Vernon, Ohio; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. KERSEY, EDGAR L. SR., 81, of Tampa, died Wednesday (Nov. 5, 1997) in Tampa. A Florida native, he was born in Orange Park and came to the Tampa area in 1936 from St. Augustine. He was a retired appliance repairman with Hotpoint Co., and was Protestant. Survivors include two sons, Edgar L. Jr. and Walter C., both of Tampa; two daughters, Mary E. Buck, Tampa and Anna P. Sheppard, Ruskin; a sister, Eleanor Baggs, Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. LINARES, AURORA N., 89, of Tampa, died Wednesday (Nov. 5, 1997) in Tampa. A homemaker, she relocated to her native Tampa in 1974 from Miami. She was Catholic. Survivors include a son, Fidal Garcia, Pembroke Pines and Raymond Garcia, Tampa; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. SHELL, RUBY, 93, of Tampa, died Wednesday (Nov. 5, 1997) in Tampa. She was born in Putnam County, W.Va., and came here in 1957 from Nitro, W.Va., She was a homemaker and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Seffner.
