TELEVISION Q&A

Question: I have been watching The Gregory Hines Show and would like to know if Hines was born in England. I think I hear an English accent in there. Am I right? Also, I heard that he wanted to do another movie with Baryshnikov. Has that movie ever been made?

Answer: Gregory Hines was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He started in show business as a tyke and traveled a great deal over the years. He may well have picked up an inflection from here, there, and everywhere he went.

Hines and Baryshnikov became friends while making the film, White Nights. They haven't made another flick together yet, but Hines told one of my colleagues that he and "Misha" hope it will happen soon.

Question: We enjoy Oprah Winfrey's program very much but can't find out where to write for tickets. Please print the address.

Answer: Instead of writing, call Oprah's ticket line at (312) 591-9222. There is no charge for tickets, but seating is limited and there's usually a waiting list. If you are 18 years or older, you can call and put your name on the stand-by list. The prolific talk show host has agreed to continue her syndicated show through the 1999-2000 season.
