Atrium, floor plan open up house

(ran HL HS editions)

Wood-clad pillars support a roof extension that shelters the entry to this multilevel, open-floor-plan house. A series of hip roof lines is accented by horizontal siding and wide trim boards. A vaulted ceiling covers the entry and family living and entertaining areas. An atrium and a wood deck that spans the back of the house open the house to the outdoors.

From the Y-shaped entry, hallways branch off to the living and bedroom arm of the house. Past the exposed-beam study with double is a great room. A wood stove on an inset stone hearth warms the living area. Sliding glass doors open into the atrium, and French doors lead out to the deck. A tray ceiling accents the dining area, which has a built-in buffet topped by windows in the atrium wall. The U-shaped kitchen has counter and storage space.

Down the hall from the entry are two bedrooms, one with a window seat, and a hall bathroom. A utility room and a partial bath line the hall to the garage, completing the 1,861-square-foot main floor.

An open stairway leads from the front entry hall to the 556-square-foot upper level master suite. The master suite has a window seat, walk-in wardrobe, dressing area and a bathroom with walk-in shower.

In the daylight basement version, stairs replace the storage area under the hall stairway.

For building cost information, please contact a local building contractor. All plans are carefully designed and detailed to comply with the Uniform Building Code. Local building codes, if more stringent than the UBC, may require additional drawings or engineering, which is the responsibility of the purchaser.
