MARLINS 5, ROCKIES 1: Rookie Brian Meadows won his third consecutive start, allowing nine hits in host Florida's first complete game.

Cliff Floyd had three hits for Florida, which has won four of its past five home games. Colorado has lost six of eight and 14 of 18.

Meadows, who never pitched above Double A before this season, has half of the wins by Marlins starters.

Colorado starter and loser Mark Thompson left after Craig Counsell's double in the fourth because of weakness in his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Thompson started six games last year, then had a torn labrum repaired and missed the remainder of the season.

Before the game, the Marlins retired uniform No. 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson. The Marlins didn't retire the number last season, the 50th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier, because Dennis Cook wore it.

Marlins outfielder Gary Sheffield presented replica World Series rings to the Marlins RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) team, which he sponsors. He purchased rings for every member of the team, which won the RBI championship last year.
