ANNIVERSARIES

The Fosters

Earnest and Betty Foster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 27, 1998, with a family gathering at the Newark Hilton in Newark, Del. A family tour hosted by their children at Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia was enjoyed the following day.

They were married March 27, 1948, at a Methodist Church in Catlettsburg, Ky., and moved to St. Petersburg from Stamford, Conn., in 1985

Mrs. Foster retired from the Stamford Public School System after 18 years. Mr. Foster retired as manager for Union Carbide Corp. after 36 years. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and is a member of the American Legion.

They have seven children, eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

The Scotts

Hugh and Ella Scott celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 4, 1998, with family for dinner at the Don CeSar Beach Resort and Spa in St. Pete Beach. They were married April 2, 1948, in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and moved to St. Petersburg from Schaumburg, Ill., in August 1989.

Mrs. Scott retired from Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Schaumburg. Mr. Scott retired from the Griffin Wheel Co., in Schaumburg.

They have two daughters.

The DeNards

Albert Z. and Vera DeNard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 10, 1998, with friends at the Wine Cellar Restaurant and Fine Catering in North Redington Beach. They also are planning a Mediterranean cruise later this year. They were married April 10, 1948, in Walkerville, Ontario, and moved to Florida from Royal Oak, Mich., in 1992.

Mrs. DeNard retired from the Board of Education in Troy, Mich., in 1990. Mr. DeNard retired as a supervisor for Bendix Aircraft Corp. in Royal Oak in 1991. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. They are members of the Elks Lodge 1912 in Holiday Isles.

They attend St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo and have four sons and seven grandchildren.

The Harmons

Donald and Susan Harmon celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends with dinner at the Red Lobster Restaurant in St. Petersburg. They were married April 2, 1938, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Chicago and moved to Pinellas Park from Kokomo, Ind., in 1984.

Mrs. Harmon retired from Delco Electronics, General Motors in Kokomo in 1977. Mr. Harmon retired as a tool and die maker for Chrysler Corp. in Kokomo. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge. They enjoy golf, bowling, dancing and playing cards.

They attend Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park and have five children and nine grandchildren.

The Buechleins

George and Irene Buechlein celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to San Francisco. They were married Dec. 17, 1947, in St. Louis, and moved to St. Petersburg from Haddon Heights, N.J., in August 1995.

Mrs. Buechlein is a part-time bookkeeper for Air Distributors Inc. in Clearwater. Mr. Buechlein owned the Pizza Factory in Haddon Heights and worked part time at the Sports Authority in St. Petersburg. They are members of Seminole Lake Racquet Club.

They have two children and three grandchildren.

The Huntleys

Fred and Velma Huntley celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary with family. They were married April 16, 1941, in Baltimore, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1997.

Mr. Huntley retired from Conrail in 1979 and served in the Navy at Midway during World War II. They are members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks. They enjoy playing cards and traveling.

They have a daughter, a granddaughter and a great-grandchild.

The Martins

Alfred and Ann Martin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 17, 1998, with family at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Beach Front Resort in St. Pete Beach. The celebration continued April 19, 1998, with family and friends at their home in St. Petersburg and their children gave them the gift of a trip to Ireland in June 1998.

They were married April 17, 1948, at St. Paul's Church in St. Clair Shores, Mich., and moved to St. Petersburg in 1981.

Mrs. Martin was a librarian for the St. Clair Shores School District. Mr. Martin retired as a police officer for Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department in 1981 after 31 years. He was a member of Snell Isle Golf Club and served in the Army during World War II.

They are active members of a bridge club and are members of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. They have four children (one deceased), a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

The Moores

Robert and Marion Moore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at St. Petersburg Bayfront Hilton. They were married April 10, 1948, in Cincinnati, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1950.

Mrs. Moore was a teacher at Azalea Middle School in St. Petersburg. She is past president and member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and Zeta Tau fraternity.

Mr. Moore was a principal for Madeira Beach Elementary School and Madeira Beach Middle School. He served as member and chairman of the Pinellas County School Board. He was president of the Florida Secondary Principals Association and served on the board of directors for the Florida High School Activities Association and was a member of the Florida Professional Practices Council. He is a member of Emeritus of Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Force in China, Burma and India during World War II.

They enjoy traveling, camping and have four children and two grandchildren.
