Hillsborough traffic accident map

This map shows crashes in the northern Hillsborough area that resulted in injuries or deaths reported by the Florida Highway Patrol from April 14-19 and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office from April 14-19. It also includes injury and non-injury accidents reported by the Tampa Police Department from April 10-16.

1. BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD AT TAMPA PALMS BOULEVARD, APRIL 10, 6:31 P.M.: A westbound 1997 Mitsubishi rear-ended a 1998 Honda that was stopped for traffic. First aid was given at the scene. The Mitsubishi driver, 40, was charged with careless driving.

2. TAMPA PALMS BOULEVARD AT COMPTON DRIVE, APRIL 11, 3:09 P.M.: A southbound 1986 Dodge hit the curb, bounced into the median, sideswiped a tree, re-entered the southbound lane, swerved back into the median and struck another tree before stopping in the northbound lane of Tampa Palms Boulevard. The driver, 37, said he was having medical problems and passed out. No injuries reported. No charges were filed.

3. TARPON SPRINGS ROAD AT BOY SCOUT ROAD, APRIL 14, 9:35 A.M.: A northbound 1992 Ford pickup truck pulled into the path of an eastbound 1994 Ford pickup. The 1994 Ford was hauling a load of trusses and had its flashers on. The 1992 Ford driver, 24, said he thought the other vehicle had its right turn signal on and was going to turn. Injured were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. No charges were filed.

4. GUNN HIGHWAY AT PETERSON ROAD, APRIL 14, 4:04 P.M.: A northbound 1990 Ford crossed the center line and struck a southbound 1994 Jeep and then hit a southbound 1996 Chevrolet van. The Ford driver, 35, said he lost control of his vehicle when his dog jumped in his lap. Injured were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. The Ford driver was charged with careless driving.

5. W LINEBAUGH AVENUE AT RACE TRACK ROAD, APRIL 14, 7:36 P.M.: An eastbound 1997 Pontiac veered into the median, over a pine tree and came to rest against a second pine tree. The driver, 39, said she lost control when she was distracted by her cellular telephone. No injuries reported. No charges were filed.

6. E 131ST AVENUE AT N 19TH STREET, APRIL 15, 6:30 A.M.: Report unavailable.

7. E BEARSS AVENUE AT BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD, APRIL 15, 9:41 A.M.: A southbound 1992 Honda, turning west onto Bearss rear-ended a 1967 Chevrolet that was stopped for traffic. The Chevy driver, 28, complained of neck pain. She was taken to University Community Hospital. The Honda driver, 49, was charged with careless driving.

8. EHRLICH ROAD AT GUNN HIGHWAY, APRIL 15, 10:04 A.M.: A 1980 dump truck rear-ended a 1990 Ford at the traffic light. The impact forced the Ford and truck into the intersection. The Ford driver, 48, complained of neck pain but refused treatment at the scene. The truck driver, 35, was charged with careless driving.

9. E 131ST AVENUE AT N 22ND STREET, APRIL 15, 5:13 P.M.: A northbound 1993 Saturn rear-ended a 1989 Honda that had slowed for traffic. The Honda then struck a 1980 BMW. No injuries were reported. No charges were filed.

10. 14941 N DALE MABRY HIGHWAY, APRIL 16, 1:26 A.M.: A northbound 1997 Toyota skidded off the roadway and struck a light pole when the driver attempted to avoid collision with a vehicle that had pulled into her path. The second vehicle did not stop and continued north. The Toyota driver, 30, and her passenger, 27, were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. No charges were filed.

11. HEADLAND HILLS AVENUE AT TURNER ROAD, APRIL 16, 3:19 P.M.: A southbound 1991 Pontiac rear-ended a 1996 Honda stopped for traffic. The Honda then struck a 1996 Nissan that also was stopped for traffic. First aid was given at the scene. No charges were filed.

12. N DALE MABRY HIGHWAY AT STALL ROAD, APRIL 17, 1:41 A.M.: A westbound 1997 Saturn pulled into the path and struck a northbound 1989 Honda. The Saturn driver, 39, said he did not see the Honda when pulling into traffic. No injuries were reported. No charges were filed.

13. W FLETCHER AVENUE AT N HAMNER AVENUE, APRIL 17, 6:51 A.M. An eastbound 1995 Nissan, while attempting a U turn, pulled into the path of a westbound 1994 Toyota. The Nissan driver, 18, said she thought there was enough time for her to make the turn. Injured were taken to University Community Hospital. The Nissan driver was charged with making an improper turn.

14. ORANGE GROVE DRIVE AT W FLETCHER AVENUE, APRIL 17, 9:01 A.M.: A westbound 1993 Ford ran a red light and struck a southbound 1998 Toyota. The Ford driver, 23, said he did not notice the light was red until he had already entered the intersection. Injured were taken to University Community Hospital. The Ford driver was charged with running a red light.

15. TIMBERLANE WEST DRIVE AT WEXFORD COURT, APRIL 17, 4:29 P.M.: A northbound 1994 Mitsubishi crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway, hit a tree and overturned. The driver, 31, said that he did not know what happened but that when he saw the tree he panicked. He also said that he had had one or two beers earlier in the day and that there might be a problem with his car's steering. The 31-year-old was taken to Town 'N Country Hospital. No charges were filed.

16. CASEY ROAD AT SOUTH VILLAGE DRIVE, APRIL 17, 6:07 P.M.: An eastbound 1989 Honda ran a red light and struck a 1988 BMW headed north on Casey Road. Heavy damage to both vehicles was reported. The Honda driver, a 21-year-old woman, was taken to University Community Hospital. She was charged with running a red light.

17. CROOKED LANE AT MONTANA AVENUE, APRIL 17, 6:42 P.M.: A northbound Pontiac crossed the center line and struck a southbound Chevrolet. The Chevy driver, 25, saw the approaching vehicle and swerved but was unable to avoid the collision. The Pontiac driver, 77, said she fell asleep due to fatigue. Both drivers were taken to University Community Hospital. The Pontiac driver was charged with failure to drive within a single lane.

18. FLETCHER AVENUE AT NORTH BOULEVARD, APRIL 17, 7 P.M.: An eastbound Saturn struck a 1993 Nissan that had pulled out from a parking lot to go west on Fletcher. Both cars spun out. Injured were taken to University Community Hospital. The Nissan driver, 21, was charged with violation of right of way.

19. N FLORIDA AVENUE AT E FLETCHER AVENUE, APRIL 17, 11:46 P.M.: A southbound 1989 Ford struck and killed a 46-year-old woman walking east across Florida. Her body was removed from the accident scene by the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office. The woman was not using a pedestrian crosswalk. No charges were filed.

20. KINGFISH AVENUE AT SAILFISH AVENUE, APRIL 18, 7:49 P.M.: A 7-year-old girl rollerskated from behind a parked car and into the path of a southbound 1994 Ford pickup truck. The Ford driver, 45, braked but was unable to avoid hitting her. The girl was taken to University Community Hospital. No charges were filed.

21. E FLETCHER AVENUE AT N 15TH STREET, APRIL 19, 1:53 P.M.: The 16-year-old driver of a westbound 1995 Toyota lost control and the car spun, crossing the median into the path of an eastbound 1993 Toyota. Witnesses said the 1995 Toyota was speeding. Injured were taken to University Community Hospital. The 16-year-old was charged with careless driving.

22. N ARMENIA AVENUE AT W FLETCHER AVENUE, APRIL 19, 2:55 P.M.: An eastbound Buick turned left in front of a westbound Dodge. There were conflicting reports from witnesses about whether the traffic signal at Armenia was red or green. Injured were taken to University Community Hospital. No charges were filed.

23. N 15TH STREET AT E FLETCHER AVENUE, APRIL 19, 8:38 P.M.: Report unavailable.
