Officials will hold an informational meeting Thursday to explain and answer questions about the widening of a portion of Mariner Boulevard. The meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd. Representatives of the county staff, utilities and contractor will be present. A copy of the plans also will be available for public inspection. D.A.B. Constructors of Inglis has been awarded a $2.4-million contract to widen Mariner to four lanes from Cortez Boulevard to Mayberry Road, just south of Elgin Boulevard. There will be a turn lane down the middle of the pavement, and sidewalks will be installed. Water and sewer lines will have to be moved. The contractor has 15 months from May to complete the work.
