Second Hernando cleaner gets robbed in April

An armed man robbed a Hernando County dry cleaning store Saturday afternoon, the second robbery of a Hernando cleaner this month.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deanna Dammer said the robbery at Cardinal Cleaners in the Winn-Dixie shopping center at Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Boulevard on Saturday was similar to the April 7 holdup at Rainbow Cleaners in Spring Hill.

Deputies were called to the robbery at Cardinal Cleaners at 12:19 p.m. A clerk, working alone, said a white man about 30 years old walked into the store and said, "Give me your money." Although the man did not point a weapon, he revealed a handgun tucked in his waistband, sheriff's officials said.

The clerk put money from the cash register into a white canvas bag and handed it over, officials said. The man turned around and walked out.

The robber wore a white or off-white T-shirt and shorts and a green baseball cap. He was described as about 5 feet 9 and 180 pounds. Anyone with information may call the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at (352) 754-6830 or the anonymous tip line, (352) 797-TIPS.
