A brush fire destroyed 7 acres of vegetation off U.S. 19 on Sunday, drawing more than a dozen firefighters and a squad of emergency trucks, but no one was reported hurt. Pasco County Fire-Rescue District Chief Doug Drape said firefighters got the call at 1:45 p.m. and spent nearly an hour fighting to control the blaze, which started on the south side of Fulton Avenue and jumped to the north side. The fire devoured palmetto bushes and pine trees, but nearby homes and business were spared. "It had the potential to be very destructive," Drape said. The fire remains under investigation.
