The pulse of Pinellas business owners

A survey of 3,500 Pinellas County business owners indicates:

11 percent have employees who ride the bus to and from work.

73 percent say the availability of qualified employees is fair or poor.

While a majority gave the elementary and secondary school system low marks, they rated the community college and university system high.

87 percent said there are not enough business-assistance programs in the county.

Telephone etiquette is the second most needed skill in the workplace today but within three years, it will fall to last.

92 percent rated the county's parks and beaches as good or excellent.
