Mari Fernandez has opened a custom design salon featuring original evening wear for men and women at 4601 W Kennedy Blvd., Suite 206. Fernandez is a model and designer, and her perspective is one of retro, bringing the 1940s and '50s classics to her shop, MarE Couture. Fernandez plans a fashion show Saturday to introduce her designs and salon to the public.

Genesis Pharmacy Services has opened at 6206 Benjamin Road, Suite 314, Tampa. Jacob Beckel is the chief executive officer of the company, which specializes in bio-identical natural hormone replacement therapy for menopausal women. It also offers speakers for educational forums regarding women's health issues.

Adam Smith has been selected as the government affairs director for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. He will direct government and legislative affairs. Smith earned his bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration from the University of South Florida. Cliff Topping has been appointed director of existing enterprises and will develop and administer the program to retain businesses in the community and to assist businesses in expansions both domestically and internationally. Topping has a bachelor's degree from Aurora University and a master's from the American Graduate School of International Management.

Christin Cupp has been named the mid-Florida division president of Beazer Homes of Florida. She will oversee divisional operations including land acquisitions, marketing strategies, residential construction and budgeting. She is also responsible for formulating and executing the division's annual business plan. Cupp has a bachelor's degree in construction engineering from Arizona State University and a master's in business administration from the University of Central Florida.

Robert Marmon has been appointed senior engineer, civil site engineering, and Marco Solano has been promoted to GIS manager/Southeast-Caribbean region for Dames and Moore.

David Companion, owner of All Tune & Lube, 1101 E Hillsborough Ave., recently added U-Haul truck and trailer rentals to the services available.

Marsha Rydberg of the law firm of Foley and Lardner has been reappointed to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women by Attorney General Bob Butterworth.

Kathy Pawelkop, a relocation specialist and senior sales associate with Coldwell Banker West Shore, has been named Realtor of the Year by Westchase. She is an eight-year real estate veteran who sold new homes worth more than $1-million in the Westchase Fords and Greens areas.

Victoria Elliot and Edward Richardson have become partners in the law firm of Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick. Both practice in the areas of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. G. John Crivelli, Julio C. Esquivel, Jessica Lewis and Christopher Traber have joined the firm as associates.

Brooke Scannell has been selected as the new United Way of Hillsborough County vice president for resource development. She was formerly a campaign division director and served as interim campaign manager for the 1997 fall fund-raising campaign.

Robert Parker has been named store manager for PrimeCo Personal Communications' Brandon retail store. With more than 16 years of retail management experience, he will oversee all operations at the store. Parker earned his bachelor's degree in computer information sciences from Troy State University in Alabama.

Luke Cardillo has joined the Coldwell Banker residential real estate sales team at the Hyde Park office.

Liz Kelly, a Realtor with ERA Dennis Realty and Investment Corp. in Lutz, has been recognized as the company's top residential sales producer for 1997, the third consecutive year she has been so recognized. With more than 60 transactions and $4.6-million in residential sales completed, she ranked as the top office performer in closed sales dollar volume and closed transactions among more than 50 sales associates.

Stephen R. Kanzer and Susan Johnson-Velez have joined the law firm of Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Villareal and Banker as associates. Kanzer earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Mercer University. He will concentrate in the area of insurance coverage litigation. Johnson-Velez earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. She will concentrate in the areas of environmental and land use, and governmental and administrative law.

Richard Rivera and Thomas Bates have been hired by Morrison Homes for the company's new Warranty Service Department as assistant builder/warranty technicians. Rivera is responsible for the communities of Cheval, VillaRosa and Westchase, while Bates is responsible for the communities of Bloomingdale, Lake St. Charles and Providence Lakes.
