Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin likely will miss Game 5 against the Detroit Red Wings tonight because of a groin injury. Khabibulin sustained a pulled groin in the first period of Tuesday night's 4-2 loss that evened the best-of-seven series at 2. He remained in Phoenix to receive treatment and is listed as day-to-day, a team spokesman said. Jimmy Waite likely will make his first career playoff start.

KINGS: Jamie Storr, the 22-year-old goalie whose head was smashed into the crossbar on a hit by St. Louis' Geoff Courtnall two days ago, missed Game 4 after being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. Storr was examined Wednesday by team physician Michael Mellman after the rookie complained of headaches, dizziness and lightheadedness.

EX-COACH DIES: Hal Laycoe, the first coach of the Vancouver Canucks, died Tuesday night in a hospital after a brief illness. Laycoe was 75.
