Second baseman Robert Hinds singled Derek Shumpert home with two out in the 11th inning to give the Yankees a 7-6 victory over Daytona on Wednesday night.
Tampa took a 6-4 lead with a three-run sixth. Marcus Thames singled and Victor Valencia doubled him home. Shumpert singled; one out later, Hinds hit a sacrifice fly.
Nick Johnson led off the Cubs' eighth with a homer to tie it at 6.
Michael Knowles, Richard Brown and Thames had two hits each for the Yankees. Julio Zuleta had four singles in six at-bats for Daytona.
CHARLOTTE 6, ST. PETERSBURG 2: Rowan Richards went 4-for-4 with three doubles and Thomas Sergio added a home run to lead the Rangers at Al Lang Field.
Derrick Cook walked seven but allowed only one earned run in 7 innings, improving to 3-0. Shortstop Eddy de los Santos was the only Devil Ray with two hits. St. Petersburg starter James Manias (3-2) allowed six earned runs on 10 hits over seven innings.
CLEARWATER 3, SARASOTA 2 (11): After Gary Burnham's two-run single broke a 1-all tie in the 11th, Kyle Kawabata held on for his ninth save for the visiting Phillies.
Clearwater managed just three hits against three Red Sox pitchers. Jaime Mendes (1-1), one of six Clearwater pitchers, picked up the victory.
