UNITED STATES NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS:

Citrus Springs Middle School student Frederick Simmons has been named a United States National Award winner in Student Council. He was nominated by Student Council adviser Melony Beyer for meeting certain criteria as specified by the Standards of Selection of the United States Achievement Academy. Frederick is the son of Juana Simmons of Hernando.

Crystal River High School student Amber Mays has been named a United States National Award winner in cheerleading and journalism. She was nominated by her yearbook teacher James Nielsen and cheerleading coach Cathie Bramlett. Amber is the daughter of Roy and Della Mays of Homosassa.

Amber and Frederick will appear in the United States Achievement Academy's Official Yearbook.

NTCS STUDENTS OF THE MONTH:

New Testament Christian School announces its Students of the Month for April, Olivia Clark and Timekka Eatman. The two first-graders were selected for displaying thoughtfulness, cooperation, helpfulness, diligence, spiritual sensitivity and school spirit. Olivia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Clark of Floral City and Timekka is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Eatman of Inverness.

UPWARD BOUND:

These students were recognized at a breakfast April 16 for making positive changes in their lives: Citrus High School _ Ann Butzer, Andrew Camisa, Kelly Conrath, Wes Davis, John Gebbia, Archie Gooding, Sara Beth Jacobs, Angie Markus, Jennifer McElroy, Tommy Townsend. Crystal River High School _ Hilary Frederick, Jacquelyn Gile, Jason Hamilton, Chass Harmon, Jammal McCray, Laurie Merritt, Daniel Murray, Christina Rhodes, Enrique Valazquez. Lecanto High School _ Randall Bates, Jacob Blackstock, Kevin Brightman, Mike Burkhart, Ronnie De Lay, Mike Gilley, Michelle Rainey, Mike Synder, Stephanie Trebing, Ed Yakich.
