Bobby Martin Jr., the 7-year-old bit by a poisonous coral snake, remained in guarded condition Wednesday at All Children's Hospital.
Bobby's father said the second-grader continues to show gradual signs of recovering from the venom that paralyzed his body.
"Instead of just moving the ends of his fingers, he could move all of his fingers," Bobby Martin Sr., of Brooksville, said Wednesday. "Instead of just his toes, he could move his foot at the ankle."
Although he is breathing about 95 percent on his own, Bobby is still assisted by a respirator in the intensive care unit, his father said.
Bobby was bitten Sunday when he picked up the black-nosed snake outside his Hernando County home. Doctors say it may be weeks or months before he makes a full recovery, which is expected.
