Fox Chapel dominates middle school tennis

Fox Chapel dominated play April 8 in a county tennis tournament for middle schools, winning six out of eight first-place ribbons.

Eight students from each of the four middle schools _ Fox Chapel, Parrott, Powell and West Hernando _ battled in each seeding group of the round-robin type event. Boys and girls winners were: Corby Ratliff and Jen Ales of Fox Chapel among No. 1 seeds; Ryan Gorskie and Paula Nagaragan of Fox Chapel among No. 2s; Justin Noe of Parrott and Michelle Gimbel of Fox Chapel at No. 3; and David Pointec of West Hernando and Laura Castelli of Fox Chapel at No. 4.

Fox Chapel was the season champion in its first year of competition, with the girls going 6-0 and the boys 5-1.

Bohn stars in ice hockey tournament

Anthony Bohn of Spring Hill, a member of the Tampa Bay Mustangs Ice Hockey Club, recently was invited to play for the Sunstar Blizzard in the Gene Harrington Memorial Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. Bohn's one goal and four assists helped the Blizzard defeat Kentucky 6-1, tie Nashville 6-6, and defeat Cincinnati in overtime in the semifinals.
