Grade school benefits from country music

Country music fans can kick up their heels and help buy computer equipment for Homosassa Elementary School by attending a concert Saturday.

Country music band Wiley Fox, Citrus County entertainer Jesse Watson and special guest Crystal Gifford will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Curtis Peterson Auditorium, 3810 W Educational Path, Lecanto.

Wiley Fox, based in Hudson, has been active in the local country music scene for nine years. The band has transcended the local bar scene and now is an opening act for stars. Wiley Fox has opened for Blackhawk, Kevin Sharp, Sammy Kershaw, Joe Diffie, Willie Nelson and Charlie Daniels.

The band is led by Jesse Embry, who handles lead vocals and songwriting. Drummer Eric Embry and bass player Mike Kaczmarek lay down a rock-solid rhythm section that makes country music fans get up and dance. Lead guitarist Brandon Embry plays country with a solid blues base, and Scott Williams on keyboards adds the honky-tonk piano and stretches out the ballads on the piano.

Local residents will be familiar with opening act Jesse Watson, who has entertained at the Grand Ole Opry Citrus County Style, the Homosassa Arts, Crafts and Seafood Festival, and the Patriotic Evening in Inverness. Watson performs country music with taped accompaniment.

Singer Crystal Gifford is also from Hudson and has been an opening act for several Wiley Fox performances.

Tickets for Saturday's show are $6 in advance at any Chamber of Commerce or Brannen Bank branch in Citrus County. Tickets are $8 at the door Saturday. Part of the proceeds will be used to help purchase computer equipment at Homosassa Elementary.
