TONIGHT: DEVIL RAYS VS. INDIANS

Published May 1, 1998|Updated Sept. 13, 2005

WHEN/WHERE: 7:05; Jacobs Field, Cleveland.

TV/RADIO: Ch. 32; WFLA-AM 970, WLVU-FM 106.3.

PITCHERS: Tampa Bay RHP Dennis Springer (1-3, 3.99) vs. Cleveland RHP Bartolo Colon (1-1, 3.34).

WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Springer is coming off back-to-back solid outings, having allowed just six runs on 12 hits over 13 innings despite picking up two losses. He has a 1-0 record and 1.17 ERA in two career starts at The Jake. Colon throws a fastball said to be timed as high as 99 mph but does struggle some with control.

ETC.: Indians 3B Travis Fryman doesn't have much trouble with Springer's knuckler; he is 5-for-8 with two homers. Fred McGriff has not homered in a regular-season game at The Jake; if he does, he'll match Colorado's Ellis Burks for the record with homers in 33 parks.
