TONIGHT: STORM AT SAN JOSE SABERCATS

WHEN/WHERE: 10:30; San Jose Arena.

RADIO: WDAE-AM 1250.

RECORDS: Season opener for both teams.

COACHES: Tampa Bay _ Tim Marcum (92-23, 10th season). San Jose _ Todd Shell (22-20 fourth season).

THE SERIES: Tampa Bay leads 2-0.

LOOKING BACK: Tampa Bay finished 9-7 last season and reached the semifinals of the playoffs. San Jose was 8-6, losing its season finale 58-34 to the Storm.

NOTES: The game was scheduled for Saturday night but had to be moved because of the San Jose Sharks' NHL playoff schedule. That means the game won't be televised on Sunshine, as originally planned. Sunshine has picked up the Storm's Aug. 1 game against Grand Rapids instead. Former Florida standout defensive back Larry Kennedy was among those released when Tampa Bay cut its roster to 24 this week. The others waived were OL/DL Steve Clarke (Houston), WR/DB Walter Sutton (Southwest State) and No. 3 quarterback Matt Pike (Purdue). FB/LB Nyle Wire, WR/LB Demasio Green and DS Kevin Jackson were placed on injured reserve, and FB/LB Cedric McKinnon and WR/DB Tracey Sanders were activated. The Storm has a new, unofficial Web site, The Storm Shelter (http://galeforce.simplenet.com/stormshelter), in addition to its Web site (http://tampastorm.com).
