The state Board of Community Colleges will meet May 20 to decide on a candidate to replace executive director Clark Maxwell, Jr., who retired in December.
Grant and Jamerson were among 40 people who applied to oversee the state's 28 community colleges. The other finalists for the $174,000-a-year job are:
Robert Bedford, deputy commissioner for educational programs at the state Department of Education; Sonia Cowen, a former administrator at the University of Toledo in Ohio; and Anthony Kinkel, an administrator at the University of North Carolina.
