The city again has proven its prowess at winning state grants, City Manager Bob Lee told City Council members Thursday night.
Gulfport has been selected to receive a $210,000 grant to build a performing arts theater at the Multipurpose Senior Center, 5501 27th Ave. S. The city also has been chosen for a $100,000 grant for exterior improvements around the waterfront Gulfport Community Center, perhaps including a skateboarding rink.
The City Council will have to decide the details of each of the projects, Lee said. The city manager credited the area's legislative delegation with shepherding the grants into the state budget.
