The city is co-sponsoring a minority business forum Monday at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. Prospective and current business owners can learn about loan programs offered by the Small Business Administration.
"We're just trying to spur some economic activities there," said Norman Lobban, an SBA economic development specialist. The SBA also is working with the St. Petersburg branch of the NAACP.
Business owners who have benefited from SBA programs and bank representatives are expected to attend. Lobban will be there with other federal government officials to distribute information.
The SBA can guarantee loans offered by banks, making it easier for entrepreneurs to get started or boost business.
Mount Zion is at 921 20th St. S in St. Petersburg. The forum begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 893-7846.
