Prison guard accused of domestic battery

A guard at Sumter Correctional Institute was arrested on domestic battery charges at his home in Land O'Lakes early Sunday, Pasco sheriff's reports say.

Edward S. McClenahan, 39, is accused of kicking his wife in the leg and pushing her to the ground during an argument about 4 a.m., reports say.

His wife, whose name was not immediately available, was asleep in her car in the driveway, officials said. McClenahan told deputies he did not want her to sleep in the car. He was taken to the county jail, where he was held Sunday.

Tampa man charged

in attack on girlfriend

DADE CITY _ A 26-year-old Tampa man is accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and throwing her onto a parked car, Pasco sheriff's reports say.

Christopher L. Mills shoved Betty Johns into the passenger seat of one car, then slammed the door, causing the glass in the window to shatter, reports say. Mills then dragged Johns out of the car, threw her onto another car and pushed her by the abdomen into another car.

The incident happened outside a home on Jeanie Court. Mills was arrested a few hours later at ABC Pizza in Heather Plaza. He denied hitting Johns. Charged with aggravated battery, he was held at the county jail late Sunday.
