Dr. Linda McClintock-Greco has resigned as executive director of Healthease, Tampa General Hospital's struggling Medicaid HMO.
Hospital officials have not achieved the hoped-for enrollment of more than 30,000 patients and last year told members of the private Florida Health Sciences Center board they planned to sell the company. Hospital president Bruce Siegel said Monday that Healthease is not for sale, but he is exploring other options. The plan provides Medicaid coverage to more than 5,800 people in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties.
Siegel said McClintock-Greco, who is married to Tampa Mayor Dick Greco, announced her plans to leave in December. In a press release dated April 14 but not released until Monday, McClintock-Greco said she is taking off for up to two months, then will pursue an entrepreneurial medical service venture.
McClintock was replaced as executive director by Thelma Czeczotka, former director of quality assurance.
