NO. 10 UCLA: Freshman JaRon Rush will be suspended for Saturday's Pac-10 opener against Arizona because he reported late from a holiday break and missed two practices as well as Tuesday's 92-67 victory over Loyola Marymount. "He told me he had been very homesick," said coach Steve Lavin, explaining that Rush had an extended Christmas visit with his family in Kansas City, Mo.

HOUSTON: Moses Malone Jr., son of the former NBA great, said he's leaving the team because of displeasure with Clyde Drexler as the coach. Malone played in nine of the Cougars' 11 games but started only one and is averaging just over 10 minutes.
