Man charged with stealing mother-in-law's pickup

A Homosassa man was arrested Thursday on charges of stealing a truck.

John Calvin Ash, 43, of 2385 S Palm Loop, took a truck from his mother-in-law and pulled the phone cord from the wall while she attempted to call 911, according to arrest reports. He was also charged with battery and accused of pushing his mother-in-law, with whom he lived.

The arrest reports say Ash took the pickup belonging to his mother-in-law and abandoned it a short distance away.

His bail on the theft and witness tampering charges was set at $10,000, and he was being held without bail on the battery charges.

Man with knife threatens

girlfriend, police say

A Floral City man was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated assault.

James Monroe Bussel, 39, of 8350 S Yew Ter. was arrested at 4 p.m. Friday at his home. His girlfriend, who lives with him, told deputies that Bussel pulled a knife on her and threatened her. He was also drunk, she told deputies.

Bussel was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was being held at the county jail without bail.

Woman arrested on

burglary charges

A Homosassa woman was arrested on charges of burglary Friday after a man discovered her in his house removing items.

Donna Perry, 39, of 3636 S Pleasant Ave., burglarized the house at 3340 S Arundel Ter., Homosassa at 4 p.m. Friday.

The homeowner, Robert Williams, told deputies he arrived home and saw a white pickup in his driveway. When he entered his home, he saw Perry standing near the front door. His television and VCR were at her feet, the report said.

Perry left in the truck and was later arrested on County Road 486 in Crystal River. She told deputies she was returning the items after they had been stolen earlier.

Her bail was set at $5,000.
