Three players from Osceola sign college scholarships

Three Osceola High players have signed college scholarships, coach Chris Wisman said.

Outfielder Ian Church will go to Stetson, catcher John Collins will play at Centenary College in Louisiana, and pitcher Jon Cross is headed to Pensacola Junior College.

Church was a Times all-Suncoast and all-state first-teamer last season. He batted .457 as a senior and .418 in his high school career.

Collins was a Times all-Pinellas honorable mention player. He was a three-year starter and had a .310 career batting average.

Cross' fastball is in the low 90s and he was 6-3 as a starter.

Girls basketball

Dunedin forward Tiffany Williams has signed with Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Falcons coach Rob Odoms said.

Williams (5-foot-10) averaged 6.5 points and 9.7 rebounds a game last year which was her lone varsity season.

Williams helped the Falcons to a Class 5A, District 9 runner up finish and a berth in the regional quarterfinals.
