(ran PW, PS editions)

A 61-year-old Spring Hill man died last week after he fell off his moped while trying to avoid a dog at Kitten Trail and N Oakwood Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Marvin W. Noaker of 17446 Chorvat Ave. was motoring south on Kitten Trail about 9:50 a.m. last Wednesday when the dog ran across the road and caused him to lose control, the FHP said. Noaker was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he died the next day, the report said.

In May, Noaker was arrested on charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, shooting into an occupied dwelling and improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon. Authorities said he fired a high-powered pellet gun into a mobile home and into a deputy's midsection.
