The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-8 will hold its next boating skills class at 7 p.m. Sept. 8, at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Training Center, 4340 Calienta St. This class teaches the basics of boating safety including equipment requirements, trailering know-how, boat handling skills, highway signs, rules, piloting, powering, lines and knots, weather and radio skills. Course materials fee is $40 with family discounts available. This class meets the National Association of State Boating Law Administration's mandatory educational requirements. Florida law requires anyone born after Sept. 30, 1980, to have a boater safety identification card. This course meets the eight-hour educational requirement for that card.
