Dade City man punched after attacker bums cigarette

A Dade City man told deputies that an unidentified man punched him in the face and back and demanded money from him after he gave the alleged attacker a cigarette, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

The 42-year-old victim said he was walking down Meredith Street when the man stopped him at the corner of Bowman Street and asked him for a cigarette, reports say.

The victim told deputies that as he handed the man a cigarette, the man punched him under his right eye and in the small of his back and said, "Give me your money," according to reports.

The victim said he showed the man he had no money and the suspect ran away, the Sheriff's Office said. The victim's name is being withheld because the suspect remains at large.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 30 years old, 6 feet 1 and 140 pounds, reports said. He wore dark shorts and no shirt and had a tattoo on his left forearm, the victim told deputies.
