EXPOS 5, CUBS 2: Mike Thurman thought it was a decent trade-off.

The Montreal pitcher was sporting a large ice pack on his left elbow after being hit by a pitch in the third, but he wound up with the victory against host Chicago.

"It didn't feel good," he said. "It's a fair trade for the win."

The Expos won for the fifth time in six games and completed a 5-2 road swing, their best trip since going 7-2 in August 1995.

PHILLIES 9, MARLINS 3: Gary Bennett hit his first major-league home run and drove in a career-high four runs as visiting Philadelphia swept the three-game series and improved to 11-2 this season against Florida.

The Marlins dropped their fifth straight and seventh of eight.
