Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in the Save-A-Lot parking lot Tuesday night that left a Dade City teen with cuts on his arm.
The 19-year-old victim told the Dade City Police Department that he was sitting in his car at 12860 U.S. 301, south of town, about 8:15 p.m., when a man walked up and asked for $10, according to reports.
When the driver refused, the suspect reached into his back pocket, said police Capt. David Duff. The victim told police that as he began to drive away, the assailant cut him with either a knife or a razor blade, Duff said.
The victim, whose name is being withheld because the suspect remains at large, suffered several cuts on his left biceps, Duff said. The injuries were not serious.
A witness to the attack confirmed the victim's account, Duff said. The witness told police that the suspect drove away in an early-model, white 4-door Ford sedan with a temporary Florida tag, Duff said.
The suspect is described as a black man, between 40 and 50, about 6 feet 2 and 140 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dade City Police Department at (352) 521-1495.
