Rays crushed as streak ends

Jason McConnell had five hits and two RBI and Juan Lorenzo four hits and three RBI as the Fort Myers Miracle routed the Devil Rays 16-6 Thursday night, ending St. Petersburg's nine-game winning streak.

Fort Myers fell behind 4-2 after two and was down 4-3 before scoring five in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth. Every Miracle player had at least one hit, eight of the nine had at least two and only Michael Cuddyer failed to score as Fort Myers outhit the Rays 26-11.

St. Petersburg's Anthony Pigott was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Jose Velazquez was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

DUNEDIN 11, CLEARWATER 5: Josh Phelps homered twice and had four RBI, and the visiting Blue Jays pounded out 16 hits. Billy Hibbard struck out two in two innings for his third victory. Yan LaChappelle earned the save.
