ADOPT-A-PET

Fire Walker is a 1-year-old neutered male flame point Himalayan. Amber is an 8-week-old female brown mixed breed puppy.

The total number of animals adopted at the Citrus County Animal Shelter in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 was 1,013, owner claims were 567, and euthanasias were 5,230. Since Oct. 1, 675 have been adopted, 25 during the week of July 29-Aug. 4. From July 29 to Aug. 4, there were 162 euthanasias.

The shelter has a large number of older animals, as well as puppies and kittens, available for adoption. It is at the end of Airport Road in Inverness. Shelter adoption and claim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For information, call 726-7660.
