Couple sues county for $1-million

(ran PC edition)

A Saddlebrook couple sued Pasco County Thursday and demanded $1-million, saying the county is trespassing on their land and using it for a sewer pumping station. According to the suit, Steve and Donna Emery claim county crews have ignored warnings and torn down trespassing signs while overstepping defined utilities easements at the 5225 Fox Hunt Drive home. The couple claims they have twice sent warning letters to the county by certified mail, and both have been ignored. One letter entered in the court file reads, "Do not take, access, use or trespass on my private property beyond that restrictive easement. Study it closely and do not go beyond it." Bruce Kennedy, county director of utilities construction, said he didn't know of any major project near the couple's home, unless it was routine maintenance on a small scale. The Emerys are suing for trespassing, destruction of property, removal of posted signs and violation of the county's comprehensive land use plan.
