NOTES: It's back to regular racing tonight after the 50-lap Open Wheel Modified Championship race last Saturday. The next championship race will be a 50-lapper for Mini Stocks on Aug. 21. Late Models will be back in action tonight after having last week off. All of the other classes are on the schedule, and women will be behind the wheels of Enduros. A Figure 8 "Whiplash Dash" for cash also is on the menu, but that may mean not that much to No. 25 Shane Grigsby, who was named "Best Driver Off the Track" last week. As Grigsby pulled off the track and into the pits with no brakes, his throttle stuck. The car roared forward, so Grigsby shut the engine off. However, the car was so hot, it turned itself back on. Grigsby surged straight ahead, just missed the track's air hose and a light pole, ripped through the chain link fence, and stopped just before crashing into the guard rail on the drag strip. Good thing Figure 8 drivers know how to swerve.
