OLD-FASHIONED SEX: Mom-and-pop stores - bastions of wholesome business values, right? Well, to compete with the giant video store chains, independent retailers are turning to porn.
Retailers at the recent three-day Video Software Dealers Association convention say adult videos are shoring up business and, in some cases, keeping their doors open.
"Before we had the dirty little room with our adult stuff," one independent said. "Now we market more aggressively that we have adult movies. The dirty little room's becoming more profitable."
