A decision whether to extend commercial zoning into residential land has been delayed to give the property's trustee a chance to clean up the land.
The 3.5-acre parcel at 6740 Park Blvd. is zoned commercial up to a depth of 155 feet. The southern portion is residential. Salvador Greco, trustee for the property, wants to extend the commercial zoning south another 145 feet. That would make the commercial portion of the land 300 feet deep and would enhance the property's redevelopment potential, according to a Pinellas Park zoning staff report.
The report also notes there are several code violations on the property, which Greco wants to clear up. The 90-day delay in the decision by the Planning and Zoning Commission would give Greco that chance. The postponement also would allow him to work with a developer to create a plan for the land.
The new hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in City Hall, 5141 78th Ave. N.
