A Marion County woman was listed in critical but stable condition late Sunday after she was hit by a water scooter Saturday off the Hernando County coast. Lillie Fay Thompson, 44, and Diana L. DeLuca, 8, of Brooksville, were in the water near Fiddlers Point, an island a mile south of Bayport Park, when Thompson's husband, Thomas Eugene Thompson Jr., lost control of his water scooter and ran over the pair, according to officers at the scene. Mrs. Thompson sustained neck injuries and told rescue workers she was paralyzed before losing consciousness. She was flown by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Diana DeLuca suffered minor injuries and was taken to Oak Hill Hospital where she was treated and released. Officials said there was no evidence that alcohol was involved in the accident.
