Several area students have been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a non-profit honors organization. To be selected, first- and second-year undergraduate students must have at least a 3.4 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities and be involved in community service.
Among those selected were Clearwater residents Jamie Lena and John Thacker,University of Florida, and Shelly Snow, University of Central Florida; Paige Pollock of Dunedin, who attends Ohio State University; Largo residents Sara Chacko, Northwestern University, and Amy Tennant, University of South Florida; Joshua Thompson of Oldsmar, University of Florida; Ryan Matiyak of Palm Harbor, Florida State University; and Ari Luxenberg of Tarpon Springs, University of Florida.
Alexandria Judge, a 1994 graduate of Clearwater High School, received a bachelor's degree in education from Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. Judge will be teaching third grade at National Heritage Academy, Winston-Salem, N.C. She is the daughter of Linda Judge of Clearwater and James Judge of Dunedin, and the granddaughter of Ann and Chuck Berger of Clearwater.
Twanyetta Miller, a 1995 graduate of Countryside High School, received bachelor's degrees in finance and marketing from Florida State University where she was a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Financial Management Association, Minority Business Society and W.E.B. DuBois Honor Society. She is the daughter of Linda Miller and Eugene Miller, both of Safety Harbor.
