Youth and Family Alternatives is the only agency that attempts to evaluate the quality of local child care. The agency is limited, however, to evaluating the day-care centers that enroll children whose families qualify for the state's subsidized child-care program. The centers are rated on several factors, including curriculum, staff/child interaction, learning environments and health standards. Scores are out of a possible 100%. Centers must score at least 85% before they can accept subsidized children.
