OUTTA LEFTFIELD

Giving Wade Boggs a chance to leave the field to an ovation Sunday afternoon, the Devil Rays removed him after he hit a second-inning double. The pinch-runner? Paul Sorrento. And when was the last time Sorrento was used as a pinch-runner? "I have no idea," said Sorrento, who has eight stolen bases in the past 10 seasons. "They just did that because they know I'm faster than him. I don't think they wanted Boggsy falling down."
