U.S. Rep. Karen Thurman to discuss Medicare reform

U.S. Rep. Karen Thurman will speak about Medicare reform and her prescription drug coverage plan at 9 a.m. Aug. 24 the Citrus Memorial Hospital Auditorium at Grace Street and Osceola Avenue.

Thurman, D-Dunnellon, has taken a leading role in Washington as Congress discusses Medicare reform and the proposal to provide prescription coverage for Medicare recipients.

This program is free to the public and is being sponsored by Brashear's Vital Care, Inverness.

Reservations are required. Call 344-6900. Reserved parking will be available in the hospital's "Q" parking lot, on the opposite corner from the auditorium.

Harvest Moon Craft Show set

for Sept. 4 in Crystal River

CRYSTAL RIVER _ The Citrus County Crafts Council will have its ninth annual Harvest Moon Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Crystal River National Guard Armory on W Venable Street. More than 50 crafters will have displays.

Staffers from the Citrus Abuse Shelter Association, the shelter for battered women, will offer information and sell tickets for the hourly drawings of craft items donated by participants. Proceeds from the drawings will be donated to CASA.

Donations of pet food will also be accepted for the Humanitarians of Florida Inc. to assist them with their efforts to help needy and homeless animals. Many of these animals are fostered out to members of the Humanitarians until medical care and a home can be provided.
