Three men with painted faces broke into a woman's home, threatened her at gunpoint and took a safe containing $20,000, police said.
Police said the 37-year-old woman reported that she was asleep in her bedroom at 1:42 a.m. Monday when the men apparently kicked in the back door of her E McBerry Street home. The Times is not naming the woman because the men were still at large Monday night.
The woman told police that when she awoke, one of the men was pointing a small chrome handgun at her. All three men were wearing long black coats and black skull caps, according to police, and had their faces painted white.
The men demanded to know the location of the woman's safe, and after she directed them to it, the men took it and left, police said.
