A 68-year-old Zephyrhills man was charged Monday with capital sexual battery for allegedly fondling a 3-year-old girl, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Henry Eugene Ayers, 39335 Louis Drive, was being held without bail Tuesday in the Pasco County Jail in Land O'Lakes.

According to reports, Ayers fondled the girl after she fell asleep in his lap Saturday night. The girl awoke screaming and ran to her father, reports said.

The girl was taken to East Pasco Medical Center, where doctors confirmed that she had been molested, reports said.

Pickup in contaminated lake stolen, deputies say

WESLEY CHAPEL _ Pasco deputies have identified the pickup truck that was found last week in a contaminated lake at Saddlebrook Corporate Center.

The 1988 red Ford Ranger was stolen Oct. 28 from the junior parking lot at Land O'Lakes High School, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies charged a 16-year-old Land O'Lakes student with the theft, but until this week they didn't know what the teen had done with the truck.

"The kid who stole it never told us where he stashed it," said Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll.

County workers spotted the top of the truck last week as they were draining the lake, which was contaminated by a 500,000-gallon sewage spill July 25.

On Monday, members of the sheriff's dive team went into the lake and hooked cables to the pickup's axles, Doll said. The windows of the truck were open and fish were swimming in the cab, Doll said.
